Glebe School

Glebe School in West Wickham is a secondary school which provides a curriculum for pupils who either have multiple moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties or social and communication difficulties (including Autism). Often autistic children find it impossible to take part in group sporting activities as other children tend to isolate them because of their poor ability to communicate.

Glebe School applied to give2give for a donation of £1,600 to pay for weekly riding lessons for its pupils with autism. The riding lessons, which were arranged by the Riding for the Disabled organisation, continued weekly throughout the school year.

The head teacher at Glebe School wrote to say that the riding had helped the children to make great progress with their speech and language and their confidence has grown, so much so that they are now starting to communicate with their peers and adults. The children also visited our shop in Hayes to present us with a fantastic handmade poster and a letter to say “thank you” to give2give and all of our customers.
