Deaf Access

Deaf Access is a Bromley based charity which provides information and support for men, women and children who are deaf or hard of hearing. They provide a wide range of support and practical help that promotes independent living for hearing impaired people – all free of charge. For example careers and employment advice, advocacy, letter writing and form filling, equipment demonstrations, tinnitus facts and counselling, a parent and toddlers group and a deaf social club.

There is a severe shortage of trained British Sign Language interpreters, and it can often take up to 3 weeks for a deaf person to gain access to an interpreter, to help solve worrying problems. Video interpreting is a wonderful way to overcome this time barrier.

give2give was absolutely delighted to donate £800 to Deaf Access to provide the necessary facilities for a video interpreting phone. This is the only public video interpreting phone in the Borough of Bromley and thus an invaluable resource to deaf and hard of hearing people.
