The Royal British Legion (Petts Wood Branch) was formed in 1942 and has occupied its present site in Queensway since 1956. The branch currently has 318 members who have served in the armed forces primarily in World War Two and National Service. Additionally there are 248 members who, whilst not having served militarily, support the aims of The Royal British Legion.
The welfare section of the Petts Wood branch provides support and practical assistance to serving and ex-service people. This includes hospital and housebound visits to service people on their own, and financial support where necessary. Amazingly, the branch also collects in the region of £10,000 per year from local businesses and residents for “The Poppy Appeal”.
