Bromley Autistic Trust is a charity committed to improving the quality of life of local people of all ages with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and to supporting those who care for them. The Trust was established in 1981 and now has three registered homes, four supported living flats, a day service for adults with an ASD and a family support service. Often families of children with autism are unable to attend “mainstream” play activities due to a range of issues, including managing their children’s behaviour in such situations (i.e. queuing etc).
give2give was only too pleased to donate £3,000 to the Trust to enable it to stage two Christmas parties (the first in Dec 06 & another in Dec 07) for local children with autism. Well over 100 children attended each exclusive party, which were held at Gambado adventure zone in Beckenham. Both parties were hugely successful, not only did the children have a fun/stress free time but the parents were also able to have a break, in the knowledge that their children were in a safe, supported and “autism friendly” environment. A first for many families with autistic children! Let’s hope give2give is able to help again for Christmas 2008.
